INDUS HIFLEX KNEE

INTRODUCTION :
INDUS is India’s first totally indigenous Posterior Stabilized knee prosthesis. With INDUS, Total Knee Replacement is now within the common man’s reach. Designed to suit the Indian lifestyle, it is possible for patients to sit cross legged after the surgery. The prosthesis is available in sizes that suit the Indian Architecture.

INDUS HIFLEX KNEE FEATURES :
1. INDUS is a posterior stabilized design which increases flexion by causing  femoral     rollback.

2. The Posterior Condyle has a smaller radius of curvature and therefore is thicker.      This makes deep knee flexion possible.

3. Total slope of tibial prosthesis is 70. Increased tibial slope increases flexion.

4. The posterior edge of the tibial poly is chamfered to avoid impingement that         occurs during deep flexion.

5. There is an anterior cut out in the tibial poly to accommodate the patellar tendon      during deep knee bending.

6. The tibia is monoblock which avoids the problem of backside wear and resulting      osteolysis.

7. The post is rounded off decreasing the rotational constraint. This allows for       increased rotation without increasing postwear.

8. The tibial poly has a deep dish design both antero posteriorly and medio laterally.      This minimizes wear by decreasing point loading.

9. The can housing has been lowered which increases stability and decreases  wear.

10. The notch cut is conservative thereby preserving bone stock.

INDICATIONS FOR SURGERY :
Surgery is indicated in the non infective arthritis of the knee when associated with :
1. Severe pain
2. Severe limitation of activities of daily living such as walking, climbing stairs, sitting cross legged.
3. Severe deformity – varus, valgus or flexion.
